National Pancake Day Celebration To Benefit Local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital

WHEN: TUESDAY, March 1, 2011, 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

WHERE: Participating IHOP restaurants nationwide.

WHAT: In celebration of National Pancake Day, IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer each guest a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

This year, IHOP is hoping to stack up more donations than ever before, with a goal to raise $2.3 million, for a total of more than $7.65 million six years with its National Pancake Day fundraising effort. To find a local IHOP or to donate online, visit http://www.ihoppancakeday.com/.

WHY: For every delicious short stack of buttermilk pancakes served on National Pancake Day, IHOP guests are invited to make a donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Donations made at IHOPs in the Barrington area will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ programs at Children’s Hospital Boston.

National Pancake Day Fun Facts:

  • IHOP served four million free pancakes on National Pancake Day 2010 and pancake lovers donated more than $2.1 million to children’s charities, far exceeding the fundraising goal.
  • All of the free pancakes served on National Pancake Day 2010 would have created a stack more than 31.5 miles high.
  • Since the inception of National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has raised more than $5.35 million and given away more than 10.1 million pancakes to support charities in the communities in which it operates.
  • National Pancake Day 2010 was IHOP’s largest one-day event in the company’s 52-year history.

Borders Hosts ‘Super Classroom Days’ for Classrooms in Need

In partnership with The Perseus Books Group and DonorsChoose.org, Borders will host Borders’ Super Classroom Days inviting anyone shopping at Borders to immediately begin making a difference in a school of their choice.

On December 4th and 5th, 2010, any customer making a purchase at any Borders store will immediately receive a $15 gift card to make a donation to a classroom on DonorsChoose.org.

Borders will leverage its Borders Rewards loyalty program, which includes more than 40 million sign ups, to promote the event. Borders Rewards emails will include a special video featuring teachers talking about how they have benefitted from DonorsChoose.org.

In addition, each copy of the #1 New York Times bestselling companion book, Waiting for ‘Superman’: How We Can Save America’s Failing Public Schools, includes another $15 gift card to DonorsChoose.org, so by adding this book to their purchase, consumers can double their contribution. The book, “Waiting for ‘Superman’,” which was published by PublicAffairs, a member of The Perseus Books Group, will be featured at all Borders stores and on Borders.com during Borders’ Super Classroom Days.

The gift cards can be used to fulfill requests made by public school teachers from every corner of America who post classroom project needs on DonorsChoose.org. The mission of DonorsChoose.org is to improve public education by empowering every teacher to be a change-maker and enabling any citizen to be a philanthropist.

Freedom is Not Free is a non-profit 501 (3) (c) that supports our deployed troops, the families of the deployed and the families of the fallen.

You can purchase the American Flag growth chart by visiting www.growthchartart.com.
